1. The name of the Association shall be Sri Viveka Vidyalaya Alumni Association and it shall have its office at Sri Viveka Vidyalaya P.U. College, Srirampura, Mysore.
2. The Aims and Objectives of the association shall be –
(a) (i) To establish a forum to preserve the memories, associations and traditions of Sri Viveka Vidyalaya and Sri Viveka Vidyanilaya.
(ii) To maintain continuity by serving as a vital link between the past and the present students, staff and members of the management of the Vidyalaya.
(iii) To make a sincere effort on all occasions to hold before the alumni, the teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
(b) (i) To maintain a database containing information such as name, permanent address, years of stay, qualifications and present occupational details of all the members of the Association.
(ii) To enlist the interest and services of old students in strengthening and improving the infrastructure facilities of the Vidyalaya.
(iii) To organize and promote meetings, seminars, spiritual retreats, sports competitions, cultural and literary activities.
(iv) To help and encourage outstanding and brilliant students among the old students, for pursuing higher studies.
(v) To receive/raise/collect donations, funds and other receipts for the fulfillment of the aims and objectives of the Association, to utilize such funds in such manner as the managing committee may consider necessary.
(i) Any individual who has studied in the Vidyalaya and is willing to live up to the aims and objectives of the Association is entitled to become a member.
(ii) The serving, retired and ex-staff of Vidyalaya shall be considered as Honorary members of the Association.
4. MEMBERSHIP: There shall be two categories of membership.
(i) Patron Member: Life time subscription of Rs. 3,000/-
(ii) Life Member: Life time subscription of Rs. 1,000/-
Note: Conversion from Life membership to Patron membership is allowed by way of paying the difference amount.
5. MANAGEMENT: The entire management of the Association shall be vested with the managing committee and it shall be responsible for the discharge of the duties connected with the affairs of the Association.
(a) The managing committee shall consists of –
(i) President: The Chairman of Sri Viveka Vidyalaya, Mysore, shall be the president of the association.
(ii) Vice –Presidents(Two): The principal of Sri Viveka Vidyalaya and a member elected from the General body.
(iii) Treasurer: The Administrative officer of Sri Viveka Vidyalaya.
(iv) Staff Secretary: A staff member of Vidyalaya (serving/retired) nominated by the president.
(v) Secretaries(Two): Elected from the General body.
(vi) Other members (Sixteen): Eleven elected from the General body and five nominated by the president, generally ensuring representation across batches.
(vii) In addition, two members of staff, serving or retired and a monastic member of Vidyalaya shall be nominated by the president to the managing committee.
(viii) Every office of the managing committee shall be honorary.
(ix) The election of the office bearers and members of the managing committee shall take place at the Annual General Body meeting.
(x) The term of the office of the elected members of the managing committee shall be for a period of one year. However, they may be re-elected.
(xi) The right to accept the resignation of an office bearer/member of the managing committee shall vest with the managing committee.
(xii) The committee shall have full authority to collect subscriptions, donations or any other receipts and to augment the funds of the association as may be deemed expedient.
6. FUNCTIONS OF THE OFFICE BEARERS
(a) President: To supervise all the affairs of the Association and preside over the General body and managing committee meetings.
(b) Vice-Presidents: To perform the duties of the president in his absence.
(c ) Secretaries: (i) To manage all the affairs of the Association.
(ii) To convene meetings of the Association and give notice thereof to the members.
(iii) To place all necessary matters before the managing committee.
(iv) To preserve all the properties, records and documents of the Association.
(v) To sign the bills and receipts of the Association in the absence of treasurer.
(vi) To carry out all correspondence.
(d) Treasurer: (i) To receive subscriptions, issue receipts on behalf of the association.
(ii) To compile receipts and payments account annually and present it before the General body.
(iii) To invest the funds of the Association as empowered by the managing committee.
(iv) To operate the bank accounts
7. Disqualification of committee members
Absence from three consecutive meetings without prior intimation shall make a member liable for disqualification from committee membership.
8. Annual meetings
At the annual General body meeting of the Association, the business to be carried on shall be-
(i)Presentation and adoption of the annual report of the managing committee.
(ii) Election of office bearers and members of the managing committee for the succeeding year.
(iii) To discuss any other subjects that may be placed on the agenda.
9. Ordinary Meetings
Ordinary meetings of the managing committee will be held at least once in every three calendar months. Special General body meetings may be held whenever deemed necessary at the request of the president or written request of two third of the members of the General body stating the purpose and subjects for discussion.
The subjects to be placed in the meetings will be mentioned in the agenda and circulated to all the members along with the notice of the meetings at least one week in advance.
General body meeting: A minimum of fifty
Committee meeting: A minimum of seven
12. Voting Rights
Each member is entitled for only one vote. Proxies are not allowed. All matters shall be decided by a simple majority of votes. In case of equal votes, the chairman of the meeting shall have a casting vote.
The General body may for the convenient management of its affairs, from time to time, make, amend or delete such Rules as do not contravene these Rules.
14. The association is not a registered body and the management of Sri Viveka Vidyalaya shall be vested with all overriding powers.
